St. Petersburg, FL — A tragic incident unfolded late Saturday night, April 12, when 14-year-old Markus Carr was arrested for the fatal shooting of his 13-year-old friend, Jaden Hill. The shooting occurred just after 11 p.m. inside a vehicle parked at 2421 11th St. S., according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. Police reports indicate that Carr was handling a handgun while Hill recorded him on a cell phone. During the recording, Carr fired the weapon, striking Hill. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Hill succumbed to his injuries. Initially, Carr claimed the shooting was the result of a drive-by, but investigators quickly disproved this account. Following a thorough investigation, Carr was charged with second-degree murder. Detectives are continuing to investigate the origin of the firearm, including whether it was stolen.
