Flooding, Thunderstorms, Rip Currents For South Florida

, Florida – Showers and a few thunderstorms are possible today as a cold front crosses on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

An isolated storm or two may become strong, with locally gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall possible.

While the bulk of storm activity is forecast to remain just offshore of the east coast, repeated rounds of rainfall today may lead to localized and urban flooding across the east coast metro areas, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.

“In the case of a heavy rain event, do not drive into flooded areas. Just six inches of water can cause you to lose control or stall your vehicle,” the City of Miami Beach posted on X.

“If floodwaters rise around your car, abandon it and move to higher ground only if it’s safe to do so.”
