TALLAHASSEE, Florida – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has ordered U.S. and Florida state flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Monday, April 21, 2025, after a gunman opened fire on Florida State University’s campus killing two and injuring five others.
The suspect, 20-year-old Phoenix Ikner, an FSU student and son of a Leon County sheriff’s deputy, is in custody after being shot by police.
In a memorandum issued Friday, Governor DeSantis directed the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida until sunset on Monday, April 21, 2025, in memory of the lives lost in this tragedy and to recognize the bravery shown by the first responders.
