Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company LLC has issued a voluntary recall of its Dark Chocolate Covered Macadamias in 0.6oz and 4oz bags due to the possible presence of undeclared almonds and cashews.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall on the same day, citing the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions for consumers with almond or cashew allergies.
The affected products, distributed to retail locations across Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and Guam, are marked with specific lot numbers and UPC codes.
The 0.6oz bags (UPC 0 72992 05464 4) carry lot numbers K5069C1 and K5069C2 with a best-by date of October 2026.
The 4oz bags (UPC 0 72992 05556 6) are marked with lot numbers B4339E1 and B4340E1 and a best-by date of July 2026.
The recall was prompted by Mauna Loa’s internal quality control process, which identified that a batch produced by a third-party co-manufacturer contained undeclared almonds and cashews.
No illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported to date. The company has taken immediate steps to contain the affected products, notify the co-manufacturer, alert consumers and distributors, and report the issue to the FDA.
Consumers with almond or cashew allergies are urged not to consume the recalled products and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. For further inquiries, Mauna Loa’s Customer Service can be reached at 1-888-255-5998, Monday through Friday.
Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company apologized for the inconvenience and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product safety and quality.
