1 dead, 12 injured After Boat Crash With Clearwater Ferry In Florida

CLEARWATER, Fla. — A crash near the Memorial Causeway in Clearwater, Florida, resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

The incident involved the Clearwater Ferry, which had 45 passengers on board, including two crew members, according to an official update from the City of Clearwater.

The ferry was struck by another boat, which fled the scene. The ferry came to rest on a sandbar just south of the Memorial Causeway bridge.

Authorities confirmed that the fleeing boat has been identified by another law enforcement agency, though no further details about the vessel were provided.

Emergency response teams, including the Clearwater Police Department, Clearwater Fire and Rescue, and the , responded to the scene after the crash was reported at around 8:40 p.m.

The boat crash was declared a mass casualty event due to the number of injuries.

12 of the 45 ferry passengers were transported to local hospitals, with two airlifted to trauma centers. Four medical helicopters were deployed to assist with the transport of the injured.
