SARASOTA, Fla. — The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning on the 2200 block of Hammock Place, leaving one person dead and another injured.
Deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at approximately 2:51 a.m., which was later updated to a shooting. Authorities discovered that a large gathering at a residence led to an altercation, resulting in two individuals being shot.
One victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The sheriff’s office is actively processing the scene and continuing its investigation.
Officials believe the incident is isolated and poses no ongoing threat to the community.
