Volusia County Motorcyclist Dead After Crash

DEBARY, Florida- A motorcyclist was killed in a Thursday evening crash in DeBary when an SUV made a left turn in front of the motorcycle.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the initial crash investigation indicates the motorcycle was southbound on Charles R. Beall Boulevard approaching DeBary Plantation Boulevard shortly before 8:30 p.m. when a northbound SUV initiated a left turn onto DeBary Plantation in front of the motorcycle. The result was a head-on collision.

The motorcyclist, a 54-year-old DeBary man, was pronounced deceased on scene. His passenger on the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The SUV driver, a 76-year-old DeBary man, was not injured and did not show any signs of impairment. The crash investigation is continuing. The roadway reopened to traffic overnight.
