POMPANO BEACH, Florida – The U.S. Coast Guard announced on Sunday evening, March 16, 2025, that it has suspended its search efforts for 24-year-old Jack Levine, a diver who went missing off the coast of Pompano Beach, pending the development of new information. The decision comes after an extensive search covering approximately 1,470 square miles in the Atlantic Ocean.
Levine was last seen on Saturday, March 15, wearing a black wetsuit while diving approximately two miles off Pompano Beach, a location known as Florida’s “Wreck Capital” for its popular dive sites. When he failed to resurface, the Coast Guard immediately launched a comprehensive search operation, deploying air and surface assets from its Seventh District.
The search effort involved multiple Coast Guard units, including small boat crews from Stations Fort Lauderdale and Lake Worth Inlet, as well as an aircrew from Air Station Miami. The operation continued overnight, with the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Flyingfish leading efforts under challenging conditions. Partner agencies, including the Broward Sheriff’s Office, joined the Coast Guard’s Sector Miami crews at first light on Sunday to expand the search.
