Musk: Twitter (X) Outage Due To Massive Cyber Attack

Elon Musk said that his social media platform, X (formerly known as Twitter), experienced multiple outages on Monday, March 10, 2025, due to a massive cyber attack.

“There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against 𝕏,” Musk posted on X.

According to Downdetector.com, the first major global outage occurred around 6 a.m. EDT, rendering the platform inaccessible on both mobile and desktop devices. Service was largely restored by 7 a.m. EDT, but a second outage followed at approximately 9:45 a.m. EDT, with functionality returning around 10:15 a.m. EDT. A third disruption began at 11:15 a.m. EDT and was ongoing as of 12:30 p.m. EDT.

During these outages, users attempting to access X encountered error messages and were unable to load their feeds, leading to widespread frustration and speculation on alternative social media platforms. The disruptions affected various functionalities, including posting, messaging, and content refreshing.

The platform, acquired by Musk in 2022 for $44 billion, has generally remained stable compared to other social media giants like Facebook and Instagram.
