, FL – The National Service (NWS) in Miami issued a Special Weather Statement at 2:28 PM EDT on March 25, warning residents of strong thunderstorms moving through the region. Meteorologists reported tracking a line of storms stretching from The Hammocks to near The Redland, advancing northeast at 25 mph.

The storms are bringing hazardous conditions, including wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny-sized hail, according to radar data. These gusty winds pose a risk of knocking down tree limbs and unsecured objects, potentially causing minor damage to outdoor property.

Areas expected to be affected include Westchester, Richmond West, Fountainbleau, Richmond Heights, Country Walk, Kendale Lakes, Tamiami Fairgrounds, Homestead General Airport, FIU South Campus, Zoo Miami, Westwood Lakes, The Hammocks, The Redland, Kendall West, Inlikita, Olympia Heights, West Kendall, the intersection of Krome and Kendall Drive, Miccosukee Resort, and Sunset.

NWS officials advise residents to take precautions as the storms pass through. “These winds can down small tree limbs and branches and blow around unsecured small objects,” the statement noted. Authorities recommend seeking shelter in a sturdy building until the storm subsides.
