The Villages, FL – A 58-year-old man from The Villages, identified as Richard Allen Keil, has been charged with DUI manslaughter following an incident early Sunday morning that claimed the life of a 60-year-old woman from Norridge, Illinois.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the fatal accident occurred at the intersection of San Marino Drive and Santa Clara Circle.
According to FHP investigators, Keil was driving a golf cart northbound on San Marino Drive when he swerved to avoid a parked vehicle. The sudden maneuver caused the woman, a passenger in the golf cart, to fall out, resulting in serious injuries. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
FHP investigators determined that Keil was impaired at the time of the crash. Following their assessment, he was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter.
