LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida – A fire erupted at Walt Disney World‘s EPCOT theme park on Saturday, March 22, 2025, leading to the evacuation of the France Pavilion in the park’s World Showcase area.
The incident, which occurred around 7 PM EDT, sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky near the iconic Eiffel Tower replica, alarming guests and casting a shadow over the ongoing 2025 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.
The blaze originated from a backstage cooler, according to a statement released by Disney later that evening, FOX 35 reports.
Social media posts captured the scene, with images showing dark smoke rising above the pavilion as crowds gathered in the surrounding areas. Emergency vehicles, including an ambulance, were visible on-site, though no injuries were reported.
Guests dining and enjoying attractions in the France Pavilion, such as Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the Impressions de France film, were evacuated as a precaution.
