ORLANDO, Florida – A low pressure system moving across south-central Florida will continue to produce rain showers today into tonight across Central Florida on Monday, February 24, 2025, according to the National Weather Service.
Up to 1″ of rain is forecast in many locations, with locally higher amounts (1-3″), especially along the east coast of Central Florida. The heaviest rain is anticipated this afternoon and evening.
While widespread showers are likely, the atmospheric instability will be limited, reducing the chances of severe weather. However, isolated thunderstorms could develop, especially south of Orlando, along the coast, and over the adjacent Atlantic waters. These storms may bring occasional lightning, gusty winds of 30 to 35 mph, and heavy downpours.
Although widespread flooding is not a major concern, areas prone to poor drainage could experience water ponding on roadways if hit by multiple rounds of heavy rain.
