WAHINGTON, D.C. – President Donald Trump, on National Girls and Women in Sports Day, signed an executive order aimed at preventing transgender women, who were born male, from participating in women’s sports.

Surrounded by girl athletes, Trump signed the “No Men in Women’s Sports” executive order, which prohibits transgender girls and women from competing in sports designated for females, based on biological sex at birth. This order directs federal agencies to interpret Title IX rules to exclude transgender athletes from female sports categories.

The order could face court challenges as some states already have laws or policies allowing transgender athletes to compete according to their gender identity, while other states like Florida have restrictions.
