ORLANDO, Florida – Steak n Shake announced that it is using 100% all-natural beef tallow in all its Floroda restaurants.
“Now cooking fries in 100% Beef Tallow in ALL Florida locations,” Steak n Shake posted on X.
“Our tallow has no preservatives, chemicals or additives….Anything less would be Sus.”
President Donald Trump‘s appointee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., sparked widespread public interest in French fries made with beef tallow for both health and taste reasons with posts on X stating that beef tallow was used for making French fries by fast food restaurants up until the 1990’s when tallow was replaced by seed oils.
“This switch was made because saturated animal fats were thought to be unhealthy, but we have since discovered that seed oils are one of the driving causes of the obesity epidemic,” said RFK, Jr. “Interestingly enough, this began to drastically rise around the same time fast food restaurants switched from beef tallow to seed oils in their fryers.”
When fries were created centuries ago, they were made with tallow.
“The consumer wants the best and deserves the best. By adopting 100% beef tallow, Steak n Shake is delivering the best fries possible,” said Chief global development officer for Steak n Shake, Kristen Briede.
By the end of February 2025, all Steak n Shake locations will use 100% all-natural beef tallow.
