WASHINGTON, D.C. – Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi was sworn in as the U.S. Attorney General by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas at the White House on February 5, 2025. She was joined by her partner, John Wakefield, and her mother, Patsy Bondi, during the ceremony.
The Senate confirmed Pam Bondi as U.S. Attorney General in a 54-46 vote, making her the third woman to hold the position. This confirmation was marked by a mostly partisan vote, with only one Democrat, Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania, joining Republicans in favor.
On her first day in office, Attorney General Bondi plans to sign a directive allowing Justice Department lawyers to be fired if they refuse to advance legal arguments on behalf of President Donald Trump’s administration. She also intends to review cases brought against Trump, particularly those by New York prosecutors suspected of political weaponization.
According to FOX News Digital, Bondi will also remove the death penalty moratorium, work with other agencies to eliminate cartels, and investigate and prosecute sanctuary cities when appropriate.
