Florida Man Used Fake ID To Collect Food Stamps, Social Security

, Florida – U.S. District Judge John Antoon II has sentenced Richard Eugene Findley, 63, of Daytona Beach, to three years and nine months in federal prison for theft of government funds and aggravated identity theft.

In addition to his prison term, Findley has been ordered to pay restitution to the Social Security Administration, the Department of Agriculture, and the identity theft victim.

Findley pleaded guilty to the charges on April 30, 2024. According to court records, he illegally obtained the identification card, Social Security card, and birth certificate of an individual identified as E.G. in the 1990s. Findley then used E.G.’s identity without permission to fraudulently secure government benefits, including a Florida driver’s license, Social Security payments, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
