Florida Corrections Deputy Killed in Targeted Shooting

BELLE GLADES, Florida – A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) corrections deputy was fatally shot in what authorities have determined to be a targeted attack on Monday evening.  

According to PBSO, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 7:32 p.m. in the 1400 block of NW Avenue D. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, an off-duty PBSO corrections deputy, who was immediately transported to St. Mary’s Hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.  

The deputy, a 39-year-old who had served with the agency for three years, was honored with a ceremonial escort from St. Mary’s Hospital to the Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday night.  

PBSO expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating, “We are distraught, to say the least.” Authorities have not yet released details on a suspect or possible motive but have confirmed that the attack was not random.
