Baby Drowns In Bathtub While Florida Dad Played Video Games

SAINT CLOUD, Florida  –  Joshua Ruiz-Martinez, a 32-year-old man from St. Cloud, was arrested on February 11, 2025, and charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child after he allegedly left his infant daughter in a bathtub while he played video games on April 21, 2024.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Ruiz-Martinez told investigators that he left the child for about three minutes to prepare a bottle, but investigators found evidence from his electronic devices showing he was actively engaged in gaming during the time the child was in the bath.

The infant was found face-down and unresponsive, and despite efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The medical examiner determined the cause of death as accidental drowning, but due to the negligence, Ruiz-Martinez faced charges of aggravated manslaughter
