GADSDEN COUNTY, Florida – The suspect in a recent Mobile gas station armed robbery that left two people dead and two others injured was fatally shot early this morning during a confrontation with law enforcement in Suwannee County.
According to the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office, authorities identified the suspect’s vehicle in Columbia County, triggering a pursuit involving officers from the Florida Highway Patrol, Columbia Police Department, and Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office. The chase ended when the suspect crashed their vehicle, leading to a shootout with responding officers.
During the exchange of gunfire, a Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was shot three times. Officials report that the deputy is in stable condition and receiving medical care.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims, stating that they are in the process of notifying families.
