PALM COAST, Florida — The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 26-year-old Florida woman who allegedly engaged in unwanted sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old boy.
On January 14, deputies received a report of a delayed sex offense involving Angel Sexton, 26, of Palm Coast, and the 13-year-old victim.
During the investigation, Master Detective Darrell Butler of FCSO’s Major Case Unit conducted interviews and analyzed text message conversations between Sexton and the victim. He determined that, while the victim was visiting Sexton in December for the holiday, Sexton had used her relationship to take advantage of the victim, engaging in activity that included kissing, attempted oral sex, and sexual intercourse.
After the victim returned home in January, Sexton maintained contact through text messages on numerous occasions over a period of several weeks, including telling the victim that she intended to leave her husband for him.
When Master Detective Butler and Corporal Michael Breckwoldt interviewed Sexton, she initially denied that the two had engaged in any sexual activity. However, investigators say that she later admitted that they had engaged in sexual activity, including sexual intercourse. She also allegedly admitted to participating in the text conversations with the victim.
On January 27, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Sexton for Lewd and Lascivious Battery. She was located in St. Augustine, Florida and was arrested on her warrant by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
The Florida woman was transferred to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she is being held on a $25,000 bond.
“It’s sickening to see a person take advantage of a child half her age and engage in a highly inappropriate and illegal relationship,” said Sheriff Rick Staly.
“These cases are never easy, and I commend our Major Case Unit for their hard work to quickly make an arrest before she could continue her illegal behavior.”
