2 Found Dead In JetBlue Landing Gear After New York To Florida Flight

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida - Two people were found dead inside the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue airplane following a flight departing New York's JFK airport at 7:50pm Eastern Standard Time and arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport at 11:10pm EST on Monday, January 6, 2025, The Irish Sun reported.
The discovery was made during the routine post-flight maintenance inspection, the company said to NBC 6 Miami.
"The circumstances surrounding how they accessed the aircraft remain under investigation," JetBlue told CBS. "This is a heartbreaking situation, and we are committed to working closely with authorities to support their efforts to understand how this occurred."
Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating how the two people ended up in the landing gear compartment while the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office determines the causes of death.
