WASHINGTON, D.C. - Donald Trump's inauguration for his second term as 47th President of the United States is scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2025, which also happens to be Martin Luther King Day.
MLK Day has been observed on the third Monday of January since its establishment in 1983. Inauguration Day for the President of the United States is set for January 20 by the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Occasionally, these two dates align, as they will in 2025 when Donald Trump's inauguration for his second non-consecutive term coincides with MLK Day on January 20, 2025.
There have been two instances before Trump where inaugurations occurred on MLK Day, including Bill Clinton's second inauguration in 1997 and Barack Obama's second inauguration in 2013 (which was observed on January 21 due to January 20 falling on a Sunday).
