SPRINGHILL, Florida – A Spring Hill woman was arrested on Sunday morning after allegedly stabbing her live-in boyfriend’s dog during an unprovoked outburst.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Operations Center received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 10:42 a.m. on December 29, 2024, reporting the incident at a residence on 180 Rusk Circle.

According to witnesses, the suspect, identified as Megan Lynn Mileskiewicz, 23, fled out the backdoor after attacking the dog. Deputies quickly located Mileskiewicz hiding face down behind a tool shed in the backyard, concealed by shrubbery. When she refused to comply with verbal commands, deputies forcibly removed her from her hiding spot and placed her under arrest.

The dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, suffered two lacerations approximately 2 to 3 inches long near its backside. Although the wounds were actively bleeding, they were determined to be non-life-threatening.

A witness told deputies that Mileskiewicz became angry at the dog without warning, grabbed a pocketknife, and began stabbing it. The witness immediately called 9-1-1 after observing the attack.

When questioned by authorities, Mileskiewicz admitted to stabbing the dog, stating that the animal was “bothering” her and she had “made a mistake.”

Mileskiewicz was charged with Animal Cruelty and Resisting an Officer without Violence. She was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $3,500.
