MIAMI, Florida – Showers are likely along with scattered thunderstorms mainly across the eastern half of South Florida on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The strongest storms could contain heavy downpours and gusty winds.
Repeated rounds of rainfall today may lead to localized and urban flooding across the east coast metro areas, according to the National Weather Service in Miami.
A FLOOD ADVISORY remains in effect for portions of Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale until 11:15AM.
A High Rip Current Risk remains for Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward counties through Wednesday evening.
Highs will reach the upper 70s along the east coast to the low 80s along the west coast.
Thursday through Tuesday
An elevated risk of rip currents may continue across the Palm Beaches through the rest of the week and into the weekend as lingering effects from a northeasterly swell continue.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms may develop across the region on Thursday out ahead of an approaching cold front.
Colder temperatures will move into South Florida behind the front for the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend.
