NAPLES,  Florida – U.S. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) has emerged as a top contender for Senate Majority Leader following the 2024 U.S. General Election where Republicans won control over both the U.S. House of Representives and the U.S. Senate.

"I am running for Senate Republican leader because I believe now is a moment we need dramatic change in Washington to upend the status quo & make sure President Trump’s agenda gets done," Scott posted to X on Saturday.

As of Saturday, Scott has received public endorsements from Senators Rand Paul (R-KY), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), and Ron Johnson (R-WI), along with conservative talk show host Tucker Carlson.

Scott faces competition for the leadership position from Senators John Cornyn (R-TX) and John Thune (R-SD).

The vote for Senate Majority Leader will take place on Wednesday, November 13, 2014.

"Hours after Donald Trump wins the most conclusive mandate in 40 years, Mitch McConnell engineers a coup against his agenda by calling early leadership elections in the senate. Two of the three candidates hate Trump and what he ran on. One of them, John Cornyn, is an angry liberal whose politics are indistinguishable from Liz Cheney’s," Carlson commented on X.

"The election is Wednesday, it’s by secret ballot, and it will determine whether or not the new administration succeeds. Rick Scott of Florida is the only candidate who agrees with Donald Trump."
