Verizon Outage: Florida Customers Report Verizon Down

"Verizon engineers have fully restored today's network disruption that impacted some customers," Verizon stated on X. "Service has returned to normal levels.  If you are still having issues, we recommend restarting your device. We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience.  We appreciate your patience."

TAMPA, Florida - Thousands of Verizon customers in Florida and across the United States are reporting that the service provider network went down around 9:30 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time today, Monday, September 29, according to downdetector.com.

"We're aware of a Verizon outage impacting customers in parts of the country. We are working to determine the cause and extent of these service disruptions," the FCC posted on X.

The most reported outage problems appear to be occurring in Central Florida from Tampa to Orlando and in North Florida from to Gainesville to Jacksonville.

Customers are reporting outages with cellular network service, 5G home internet, and 5G mobile internet.

Why Is My Phone On SOS Mode Only?

The cellular outage has caused smartphones, including Android and iPhone, to go into the no service state of SOS mode.

If you see SOS or "SOS only" in the status bar, your device isn't connected to a network, but you can still make emergency calls, according to Apple. This feature is available in Australia, Canada, and the United States.
