NHC: Tropical Depression 7 Track, Spaghetti Models

NOAA NHC Tropical Storm Gordon Projected Path

, Florida – ‘s National Center issued a Public Advisory at 8 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on Thursday, September 12, 2024, due to the presence of Tropical Depression 7, which is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Gordon.

Tropical Depression 7 is located 600 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands and is moving to the west-northwest at 17 mph (28 km/h).

NHC forecasters say that a west-northwest to west motion at a slower forward speed is anticipated over the next few days.

Tropical Depression 7 has maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (55 km/h), with higher gusts. 

Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and the depression could become a tropical storm later today.

Tropical Depression 7 Computer Models 

Computer models, often referred to as spaghetti models become somewhat divergent in the 4- to 5-day time frame, but is in overall agreement on a rather slow motion.  

The official track forecast is similar to the previous NHC prediction and close to the various dynamical model consensus solutions.

NOAA and Colorado State University forecast an “extremely active” 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs from June 1 through November 30.
