Heat Advisory, Dangerous Rip Currents, Thunderstorms For South Florida
MIAMI, Florida - Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon, with the best chances for thunderstorms over the interior and western areas of South Florida.
The strongest storms could contain strong wind gusts, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours.
These thunderstorms may provide some relief from the excessive heat, where peak heat indices are expected to range between 106 and 112 degrees today.
A Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for all of South Florida.
The National Weather Service in Miami forecasts a High Rip Current Risk through the evening for Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward counties.
Friday through Wednesday
Scattered thunderstorms will be possible each day through the period. Some storms could become strong with threats of gusty winds and frequent lightning.
The risk for rip currents will remain elevated for the Atlantic Coast beaches over the weekend as onshore flow persists.
Peak heat index values may remain elevated into the beginning of the weekend, and may reach advisory level criteria at times.
