MIAMI, Florida – Isolated to scattered thunderstorms could bring gusty winds and heavy downpours this afternoon across South Florida on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
Excessive rainfall from slow-moving thunderstorms could lead to localized flooding, mainly this afternoon around the western suburbs of Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Thunderstorms may bring relief to some areas from the excessive heat.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for all of South Florida, with the worst impacts expected between 10 AM to 6 PM. Heat indices will range between 105 to 110 degrees.
Some portions of Palm Beach County and Southwest Florida could see heat index values rise above 110.
Thursday through Tuesday
Scattered thunderstorms are expected each afternoon this weekend.
Some of the storms may contain gusty winds, frequent lightning, and locally heavy rain.
Additional heat advisories may be needed as heat indices will remain in the triple digits each afternoon.
