MIAMI, Florida – The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Heat Advisory effective from 10 AM Wednesday through 8 PM EDT Thursday for several areas in South Florida, including Miami-Dade, Broward, Collier, and Monroe Counties.
Peak heat index values between 105 and 110 degrees expected Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
The combination of high temperatures and humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated.
Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
