Heat Advisory, Thunderstorms For South Florida
The strongest storms could contain gusty winds, frequent to excessive lightning, and heavy downpours, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
Showers and thunderstorms may bring relief to some areas from the excessive heat where peak heat indices of 105 to 110 degrees will be possible today across most of South Florida.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for Broward County, Collier County, Miami-Dade County, Glades County, Hendry County, and Palm Beach County from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday through Friday
Scattered thunderstorms will continue to be possible each day this weekend and into next week. The strongest storms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours.
Heat indices could continue to rise to near or in excess of advisory thresholds Sunday and into the early week.
An elevated risk of rip currents is possible this weekend and into early next week along the Atlantic Coast beaches as east to southeasterly wind flow strengthens.
