Hatch Baby Recall Due To Significant Shock Hazard

Hatch Baby Recall Due To Significant Shock Hazard

Hatch Baby Inc. has announced a recall of nearly one million power adapters sold with Rest 1st Generation sound machines at Hatch.co, Amazon.com, and at major retailers including BuyBuyBaby, Target, Walmart, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn Kids, and Best Buy.

Sales occurred between January 2019 and September 2022, with prices ranging from $60 to $70, and on Amazon.com through May 2024, with prices between $60 and $200.

The recall is due to a defect in the plastic housing of the AC power adapter, which can come off when removing the adapter from the power outlet, leaving the power prongs exposed and posing a significant shock hazard to consumers.

The recalled power adapters, model number CYAP05 050100U, feature a white rectangular plastic housing that plugs directly into the wall socket. Identifying information, including the model number, "1.0A," "Jiangsu Chenyang Electron Co. LTD," and "Made in China," is printed in black near the prongs.

These adapters were included with certain Rest 1st Generation sound machines and were not sold separately.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled power adapters. Hatch Baby Inc. is offering free replacement adapters.

Affected consumers should unplug the cord, cut it, take a photo showing the model number and the cut cord, and upload the photo along with their name and mailing address to www.hatch.co/adapterrecall. Hatch is directly contacting all registered owners.

There have been 19 reports of the plastic housing detaching, including two instances where consumers experienced minor electrical shocks.

For more information, consumers can contact Hatch Baby Inc. toll-free at 888-918-4614 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday, by email at [email protected], or visit www.hatch.co/adapterrecall.
