LEE COUNTY, Florida - Early Thursday morning, Lee County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a stolen ambulance at Golisano Children's Hospital in Fort Myers, Florida.

The ambulance was empty, with no patients inside.

Deputies tracked the ambulance through its onboard GPS system to the RaceTrac gas station on Summerlin Road.

The suspect, Ariel Marchan-Le Quire, 30, was confronted by deputies at the gas station but fled in the ambulance.

Several LCSO deputies pursued the stolen ambulance while the Florida woman drove recklessly, swerving, drifting across lanes, hitting curbs, and almost flipping the ambulance.

At one point, Marchan-Le Quire pulled over, but as deputies approached the stolen ambulance, she sped off, turning on the emergency lights.

At that time, deputies disengaged from the pursuit. However, the LCSO Aviation Unit continued to follow the ambulance.

The ambulance stopped in the middle of South Tamiami Trail and Island Park Road, where deputies closed in on the driver.

Marchan-Le Quire was removed from the driver's seat and arrested.

The Florida woman was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash, resisting an officer, fleeing and eluding, and theft of emergency equipment. Marchan-Le Quire's criminal history spans multiple states and includes battery, resisting, and vehicle theft charges.

There were no reported injuries or damage to vehicles involved.
