Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain For Most Of Florida

  

MIAMI, Florida – Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are possible today and tonight on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, across South Florida, Central Florida, and the North Florida peninsula, according to the National Weather Service Hazardous Weather Outlook.

Stronger storms will be capable of producing gusty winds of 40 mph, occasional cloud to ground lightning, and torrential downpours that can cause localized flash flooding and ponding on roadways. 

The greatest chance for strong thunderstorms is in Central Florida while the greatest chance for heavy rain is in South Florida.

A trough of low pressure over the eastern Gulf of Mexico is creating a deluge of heavy rain this week across Florida, with the heaviest rainfall amounts accumulating in Southwest Florida and South Florida,
