Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Miami-Dade County
MIAMI, Florida- The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Miami-Dade County that will remain in effect until 5:00 PM EDT.
At 4:13 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was detected over Miccosukee Resort, approximately 11 miles northwest of Kendall, moving east at 20 mph.
The storm is producing wind gusts of up to 60 mph, as indicated by radar.
These conditions are expected to cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Residents should remain vigilant for potential tornadoes, which can form rapidly during severe thunderstorms.
If a tornado is spotted, seek shelter immediately in a small, central room within a sturdy building.
Locations impacted include Miami, Hialeah, Miramar, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Key Biscayne, South Miami, Surfside, Miami Gardens, Virginia Key, Kendall, North Miami, Doral, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Miami Lakes, Hialeah Gardens, Sunny Isles Beach, Pinecrest, and Opa-Locka.
