Life-Threatening Rip Currents, Thunderstorms For Florida
MIAMI, Florida - There is a high risk of life-threatening rip currents along the entire east coast of Florida from Jacksonville southward to Miami in the Atlantic Ocean and also across the Florida panhandle due to rough seas generated by Invest 92L.
In just the last three days, six people have died from swimming at Florida beaches.
On Thursday, two parents died after swimming with their children on South Florida's east coast and another man died off Panama City Beach. On Friday, three more men died off Panama City Beach.
Scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across the Florida Peninsula, mainly in the interior and east coast in North Florida and Central Florida.
Scattered thunderstorms will be possible across all of South Florida.
The strongest storms could contain gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning, according to the the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
