Large Hail, Severe Weather Possible Across Florida
MIAMI, Florida - Strong to locally severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail, heavy downpours, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning will be possible across the eastern half of the Florida peninsula, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
Elsewhere, the rest of Florida will see normal thunderstorms.
The greatest chance for severe weather is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. from east of Orlando southward to Miami.
The afternoon thunderstorms may bring relief to some areas from the excessive heat in the 90's with a heat index above 100 that is forecast across South Florida.
If you are spending extended periods of time outdoors, the National Weather Service recommends that you take breaks in the shade or in an air conditioned building, and also remain well hydrated.
