MIAMI, Florida – Afternoon thunderstorms in South Florida and Central Florida will help relieve excessive heat across the Sunshine State, while North Florida will see fewer storms and higher temperatures on Monday, June 24, 2024.
Scattered thunderstorms will develop this afternoon across the Florida Peninsula, mainly in Central Florida and South Florida.
The strongest storms could contain gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
Storms will be slow-moving in South Florida, so localized flooding is possible, especially in poor drainage areas.
Peak heat indices will range between 100 and 105 across most areas this afternoon.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for North Florida.
