Heat Advisory For South Florida
MIAMI, Florida- The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Heat Advisory for several areas in South Florida effective from 8 AM to 5 PM EDT on Friday, June 28, 2024.
Residents are urged to take precautions as heat index values are expected to reach up to 109 degrees.
The advisory affects Coastal Broward County, Coastal Miami-Dade County, Far South Miami-Dade County, Inland Broward County, Inland Miami-Dade County, Metro Broward County, and Metropolitan Miami-Dade County.
The combination of high temperatures and humidity levels could result in heat-related illnesses.
Scattered thunderstorms could bring relief from the heat to some parts of South Florida, with coverage peaking in the afternoon. Slow moving storms could result in localized flooding, particularly for urban areas.
Heat Exhaustion versus Heat Stroke
Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
