, Florida  – A Central Florida  man had to have his arm amputated from the elbow down after he was attacked by an alligator early Sunday.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the man was attacked while swimming in Lake Monroe in Seminole County.

Florida, known for its abundance of lakes and waterways, experiences an average of nearly 16,000 -related complaints annually, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
