Flood Watch Issued For Southwest Florida

TAMPA BAY, Florida – The National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Ruskin, FL, has issued a Flood Watch for portions of Southwest Florida and West Central Florida, effective through Thursday evening.

Affected Areas:

• Hardee
• DeSoto
• Coastal Manatee
• Coastal Sarasota
• Inland Manatee
• Inland Sarasota

This includes cities such as Zolfo Springs, Parrish, Lakewood Ranch, Myakka City, North Port, Sarasota, Bradenton, Wauchula, Venice, Englewood, Bowling Green, Arcadia, and Anna Maria Island.

What to Expect:

• Flooding Risk: Excessive rainfall may lead to flooding in rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying areas. Urban areas and locations with poor drainage are particularly at risk. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris, exacerbating flooding conditions.
• Timing: The Flood Watch is in effect through Thursday evening.
