Flash Flood Warning For Northern Miami-Dade, Broward Counties
MIAMI, Florida – The National Weather Service in Miami has extended a Flash Flood Warning for Southern Broward County and Northern Miami-Dade County, effective until 8:00 PM EDT today.
At 2:09 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 5 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Areas of Impact:
- Major Locations: Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Miramar, Davie, Hallandale, Miami Gardens, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Dania Beach, Sunny Isles Beach, Opa-Locka, West Park, Ojus, Hard Rock Stadium, Oak Point, Miramar Parkway and University Drive, Estates Of Fort Lauderdale, Chambers Estates.
Hazards:
- Flash Flooding: Flash flooding is caused by thunderstorms, affecting small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, underpasses, and other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Safety Precautions:
- Turn Around, Don’t Drown: Do not drive through flooded roads. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.
- Stay Alert: Be aware of your surroundings and avoid driving on flooded roads.
Reporting:
- Report Flooding: Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and ask them to relay the information to the National Weather Service when it is safe to do so.
