National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center Severe Weather Outlook Florida


MIAMI, Florida - Scattered thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon hours into the early evening across the Florida peninsula.


These thunderstorms may contain periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, and frequent lightning, according to the the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.


The greatest chance for thunderstorms is between 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. from east of Orlando in Central Florida southward to Miami in South Florida.

The afternoon thunderstorms may bring relief to some areas from the excessive heat in the 90's with a heat index above 100 that is forecast across Florida.


A Heat Advisory is in effect for South Florida.
