Excessive Heat, Thunderstorms For South Florida

 

MIAMI, Florida – Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon hours into the early evening particularly over the interior and east coast of the Florida peninsula from east of Orlando in Central Florida southward to Homestead in South Florida.

These thunderstorms may contain periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, and frequent lightning, according to the the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.

The afternoon thunderstorms may bring relief to some areas from the excessive heat in the 90’s with a heat index above 100 that is forecast across the Florida peninsula.
