The tornado left damage to property and down power lines in its path but no one was injured.
"We have received many questions about why an alert was not sent out by the National Weather Service advising of a tornado watch or warning," the Citrus County Sheriff's Office stated.
"According to the National Weather Service, the tornado that touched down in Crystal River was too small in size to register on their radar."
The tornado touched down on the west side of Crystal River Sunday evening.
