Special Weather Statement For Volusia County
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for Coastal Volusia and Inland Volusia Counties.
A strong thunderstorm is expected to impact Central Volusia County until 12:30 PM EDT.
Doppler radar detected a strong thunderstorm near DeLand Airport, approximately 7 miles southwest of Daytona Beach, moving east at 40 mph.
This storm is forecasted to bring wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail. Gusty winds could potentially knock down tree limbs and cause minor damage to unsecured objects, while hail may result in minor damage to vegetation.
Locations likely to be impacted include Deltona, Daytona Beach, Port Orange, Ormond Beach, and DeLand.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take precautionary measures. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.
Additionally, conditions are favorable for the development of weak, brief funnel clouds. While these funnel clouds rarely touch down, they can produce wind gusts over 50 mph if they do. If a funnel cloud is spotted, move indoors immediately and report your sighting to the National Weather Service.
