MIAMI, Florida – Strong thunderstorms capable of producing gusty winds, hail, localized heavy rainfall, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning will be possible for most of the Florida peninsula from Jacksonville to Key West, including Orlando, Tampa, and Fort Myers, according to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center.
The greatest chance for strong thunderstorms is in southern South Florida around Miami.

The Sunshine State will get a break from the excessive heat with high temperatures in the high 80’s and low 90’s.
The highest temperatures will be concentrated across Southwest Florida from Tampa to Key West and in South Florida from Key West to Fort Lauderdale.
5/21: Thunderstorms this afternoon will mainly focus across the southern extent of South Florida. Gusty winds, small hail, & frequent lightning are all possible with the strongest storms.
