Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Seminole, Lake, Orange Counties
ORLANDO, Florida - The National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several counties in east-central Florida. This warning is effective until 12:45 PM EDT and includes the following areas:
Southwestern Seminole County
Southwestern Lake County
Western Orange County
Northwestern Osceola County
Severe thunderstorms were detected along a line extending from near Zellwood to near Groveland to 12 miles southwest of Lake Louisa to 8 miles southeast of Zephyrhills South, moving east at 35 mph.
The storms are expected to bring hazards including 60 mph wind gusts and penny-sized hail. Residents in the affected areas should anticipate damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include Orlando, Sanford, Apopka, Altamonte Springs, and Ocoee.
Residents are advised to take precautionary measures. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for your protection. Additionally, torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
