ORLANDO, Florida – In response to inflation-hit consumers and corresponding rising fast food prices, McDonald’s confirmed that the franchise company will offer a $5 value meal, CNBC reported.
Starting on June 25, McDonald’s $5 value meal will consist of small fries, a small soft drink, four Chicken McNuggests, plus either a McDouble or McChicken sandwich, the Wall Street Journal first reported.
Nationwide, recent high fast food prices are a result of inflation affecting food and fuel prices over the last three years.
On a state-by-state basis, fast food prices are affected by state minimum wage laws, taxes, and insurance costs that the individual McDonald’s franchisee passes down to the consumer, resulting in as high as an $18 Big Mac meal. Real estate affects fast food prices on a local level.
McDonald’s value meals and other items are lower in Florida (Ranked No. 31) where the state minimum wage is $12, according to a cost of McDonald’s by state list compiled be Delish.
